While “just talking” is an important element of deliberation, the DCI is also committed to being action and solution-oriented.
For this reason, the Initiative will be developing ideas to “jumpstart” some of its hosted deliberations. These ideas may come from think-tanks, local organizations, previous deliberations, and can help participants understand the range of options available — and stimulate them to come up with better ideas.
The DCI will also build on ideas generated in those deliberations to develop specific policy solutions. These solutions will then be shared with relevant communities and policymakers for further deliberation, with the ultimate goal that they will inform and influence actual practice and outcomes related to important social, economic, and political issues.
